About Us

Established on October 1, 1974, Troop 180 is a mid-sized troop of approximately 40 boys, large enough to offer a diverse scouting program and small enough to give each scout individual attention.

Our Patrol Leaders Council holds a retreat each fall to determine the camping schedule for the following year.  Each month has a theme - orienteering, pioneering, water sports, survivor games, etc..  We have criss-crossed North Carolina to Pennsylvania to attend summer camp, attending a different camp each year.  Our scouts love the excitement of trying new and different camps and the fun of meeting scouts from all over the east coast.

One of our favorite weekend trips is our annual Scout Skills Challenge held at Fort Eustis each January.  It's a special trip where we sleep in the barracks, eat in the mess halls with the soldiers, run the obstacle course ... and plow through a set of challenges designed to test every scouting and outdoor skill you can imagine!  We also hold our annual Thanksgiving Feast each November.  We prepare a huge feast for our families as our way of saying thanks for supporting scouting.

We have a high adventure program for boys aged 14 and up.  We've sent scouts to the boundary waters of the Northern Tier, the trails at Philmont and the excitement of the National Jamboree. In 2008, we went to Key West where 19 scouts and scouters became the working crew for a 75 foot schooner.  We sailed, snorkeled, went SCUBA diving, and had a blast.  In 2010 we have a big trip planned for the Chisholm Trail,  It's "backpacking by boat" in Texas.

We meet on Monday nights from 7:00 - 8:30 at the Williamsburg Assembly of God church located at 5232 Longhill Road in Williamsburg (near the Rec Center)/  Meetings are open to visitors at any time.  Hope to see you there!
